From the first downbeat to this week’s finale, the season lived up to its name: a “star” on every concert, a renewed focus on access, and a surge in education reach. Executive Director Natassia Perrine and Music Director Adam Flatt frame the year as fundamentally about bringing people together—onstage and off. TSO expanded adult-education moments, deepened school partnerships, and reached more than 7,000 students, while keeping the hall welcoming (“come as you are” really means it).
“Hymns for Everyone”
-
When/Where: Monday, April 7, 7:00 PM • Moody Concert Hall (UA)
-
Pre-concert: Cheers-n-Chat at 6:00 PM — pianist Kevin Chance offers a pre-show talk; $15 donation supports TSO music education.
-
Program Highlights: Jessie Montgomery’s moving Hymn for Everyone anchors a “rich program” designed to be deeply felt from first note to last; pianist Kevin Chance—West Alabama’s beloved artist—stars in Grieg’s Piano Concerto. Expect an “adventure” that’s both stirring and welcoming, even if this is your first time in the hall.
As Adam puts it, art starts with one person’s inspiration and expands to touch us all; this finale is built to do exactly that. If you’ve been meaning to catch a concert, this is the one.
