The Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra’s annual Home for the Holidays concert brought warmth and wonder to the Moody Concert Hall, kicking off with Leroy Anderson’s iconic pieces “Sleigh Ride” and “A Christmas Festival.” Under the baton of Adam Flatt—and with a special guest-conducting cameo by UA Opera Director Paul Houghtaling—the evening featured festive favorites, from Saint-Saëns and Handel to a Hanukkah medley and the ever-popular audience singalong.
Executive Director Natassia Perrine reflected on the concert’s magic, calling it “a kind of homecoming,” with new and returning voices—from the Alabama Choir School to the debuting Alabama Choral Society—uniting under one roof. With sold-out seats, spirited performances, and community-wide nostalgia, the concert was a jubilant reminder of the holiday music that binds us together.
