On Talk of Alabama ABC 33/40, Executive Director Natassia Perrine maps the new “Stars Fell on Alabama” season: a homecoming opener, Get Happy (Sept. 16) at the historic Bama Theatre—TSO’s first stage in 1979—featuring vocalist and Judy Garland scholar Joan Ellison; a November chamber concert by candlelight in Moody Concert Hall; and Home for the Holidays with the Alabama Choir School and the Alabama Choral Society. Across the season, TSO spotlights its own talent (principal clarinet in Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto, pianist Kevin Chance in Grieg’s Piano Concerto) and welcomes a young guest violinist for two school-day children’s concerts plus an evening public performance as part of Picture This, a collaboration with Central High School that pairs music with a student-created gallery. Perrine also highlights 100 complimentary student tickets distributed through local music teachers and a 50% discount for students and faculty—part of TSO’s push to make great music widely accessible.
