Time for Three (TF3) is a Grammy and Emmy-winning trio, Nicolas “Nick” Kendall (violin), Charles Yang (violin), and Ranaan Meyer (double bass), that blends classical, Americana, and singer-songwriter traditions into a genre-defying sound. The group has appeared with major orchestras and composers worldwide and maintains a strong commitment to music education, the throughline of their three-part residency with TSO and Chamber Music Tuscaloosa.

The TSO and Chamber Music Tuscaloosa will co-present a special three-part residency featuring the acclaimed chamber group Time for Three—a genre-defying trio celebrated for its exhilarating blend of classical repertoire, audience-loved favorites, and original works composed by the ensemble. Designed as a true community collaboration, the residency connects young musicians, symphonic performance, and chamber music in one cohesive artist visit.

The residency begins with a hands-on education event: Time for Three will work directly with student musicians in the Tuscaloosa City School’s Strings in Schools program. Students will participate in a workshop “Joy,” including learning an original piece by Time for Three. That learning then culminates in a powerful onstage moment as students join Time for Three and the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra during the Symphony’s season finale performance—bringing the classroom-to-stage connection to life in real time.

The residency concludes with a third, distinct experience: an intimate Time for Three recital presented by Chamber Music Tuscaloosa, giving audiences the chance to hear the trio up close in a chamber setting and experience the breadth of their artistry—from virtuoso classical playing to inventive, high-energy programming. Together, the three events offer multiple ways for the community to connect—with the artists, with the music, and with the next generation of local talent.
