TSO’s principal players go small for a night of chamber music
Oboist Mary Lindsey Bailey, clarinetist Ozzy Molina, hornist David Bradley, and bassoonist Carlos Felipe Viña, all University of Alabama faculty and TSO principal players, come together for Diamond’s Rounds, Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante, and Bloch’s Concerto Grosso No. 1. It’s the orchestra’s own players in conversation with each other, without the rest of the ensemble.

Mary Lindsey Bailey is Associate Professor of Oboe at the University of Alabama and principal oboe with the Tuscaloosa Symphony, following principal oboe posts with the Shenzhen Symphony and Grand Junction Symphony Orchestras. She has performed internationally across London, Paris, Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Rio de Janeiro’s Festival Internacional de Sopros, and in 2015 played second oboe in the 24/04 World Orchestra in Yerevan, Armenia, marking the centenary of the Armenian Genocide. She holds a bachelor’s from the University of South Carolina and a master’s and doctorate in oboe from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
Osiris “Ozzy” Molina is Professor of Clarinet and Woodwind Area Coordinator at the University of Alabama and principal clarinet with the Tuscaloosa Symphony, alongside posts with the Huntsville Symphony and chamber ensembles including the Vuorovesi Trio and Capstone Wind Quintet. In 2025 he soloed with the TSO, Huntsville Symphony, and Huxford Symphony Orchestra, and gave the world premiere of Leo Brouwer’s Perpetuum Mobile at Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall. His 2022 album Cuba, Alabama features clarinet works by Cuban composers, and he holds degrees from Michigan State University, Yale School of Music, and Rutgers University.
David Bradley joined the Tuscaloosa Symphony as second horn in 2006, later serving as librarian and, since 2013, operations manager. A Birmingham native, he trained at the University of Alabama under Charles Snead on a full scholarship, earning his bachelor’s in 2006 and master’s in 2008, and went on to win a position with the U.S. Army Field Band. He has performed with the Atlanta Symphony and Savannah Philharmonic, served as principal horn with the Atlanta Opera, and appears on the recordings Harambee: Horn Music of Paul Basler and The Steve Sample Legacy Project.
Carlos Felipe Viña is Instructor of Bassoon at the University of Alabama, an active performer across South Florida and Gulf Coast orchestras including the Naples Philharmonic and Florida Grand Opera. Born in Colombia, he trained at the Conservatorio de Musica del Tolima before earning degrees at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Lynn University, and a doctorate from the University of Miami Frost School of Music. He co-founded the Florida Bassoon Bash masterclass series and performs in the bassoon-and-percussion duo Madera Viva with Dr. Karli Viña, and his students have gone on to Juilliard, Berklee, and the San Francisco Conservatory.
