TSO opens new season

First conductor candidate takes stage tonight

The Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra season that kicks off tonight will be bittersweet in some regards.

First, the 2010-11 season marks the first in a decade without music director Shinik Hahm. Second, by spring, only one of four candidates will remain to take his place.

The first of the music-director finalists, Paul Haas, arrived Saturday night for an interview with TSO staff and board and spent Sunday meeting with and rehearsing the orchestra for the first time.
